Oooooooh ... it's almost time again
I love making and decorating cupcakes, in fact, it was a nice little earner back in the day when I had a small catering business and I supplied local businesses, festival cafes, corporate events and private individuals with cakes, muffins & cupcakes.
In fact, Lyndsey (from Cakes by Lyndsey) and I had a wonderful time hosting Cupcake decorating classes for hen parties, team building events and the like - it was a combination of extreme stress and serious hard work, culminating in the most relaxing and most enjoyable times. We were a great team - she brought her incredible expertise and imagination (an artist, whose medium was sugar) - I provided the venue and the more basic supplies of cakes & vast pots of coloured butter icing to the table. Everyone went away with a great feeling of pride and self satisfaction at their achievements. Who among us wouldn't enjoy the adult equivalent of playing with play dough in Kindergarten? Lindsey was a wonderful teacher to all - particularly me!
These Hallowe'en themed cupcakes have been my particular party piece for many years now!
Once you've made your cupcakes, use an ice cream scoop to heap a mound of icing on top, then put a malteser on top and arrange a circle of rolled fondant on top and mould the eyes and screaming mouth using a damp toothpick. A lot of fiddly work, but SO worth it!
Your kids will love helping make these.
